Wrapping up August!

Yes, September is halfway over, and yes, I am just now wrapping up August...it has been a crazy few weeks !

We have had lunch the past few Sundays with friends after church! This is a picture of Bailey "blowing" on her food one day. I just love those sweet little baby lips!

Football season is back! We LOVE fall and football around our house, and the girls have been representing a few family teams!

One night, friends had us over for dinner. After some delicious food, we sat on their porch and chatted. The girls LOVED looking at the stars with their daddy.

One night we went to my dad and Lianna's for dinner, and the girls got a special treat of donuts after dinner...they were pretty excited!

One Sunday, the girls drove around with us looking at houses (more on that soon!). They are both pretty tired, but Ashlynn would NOT give it up for a nap!

Bailey: 15-16 Months

Bailey,

You are 16 months old! It is hard to believe that you are the same age your sister was when you were born!  You continue to amaze us with your sweet, joyful spirit.

15 Months:

16 Months:

Here are your stats from your 15 month checkup:

You are wearing size 4-5 shoes, size 4 diapers, and size 18-24 month clothes.  I always say that you have "clown hair:. The top is still very short, but the sides and back are long enough to be pulled into pig tails.

You do not talk as much as your sister did, but you know as many words.

The words I can think of that you know are:
Banana, ball, ice cream, more, please, thank you, Zeus, the names of most family members, phone, hello, bye bye, purple, diamond, star, baby, Cow, moo, hooray, night night, plane, sissy, dog, icky, diaper, teeth, eyes, ears, eat

You can also point out and name diamonds and stars. You can also point to and name your eyes, ears, and teeth.

I have so many pictures of you sleeping. You are the sweetest little sleeper. You also sleep in the craziest positions! You sleep from 8:30-7 most days, and take 1 afternoon nap (with a short cat nap some mornings).

Your car seat is forward facing now, and you love it. You point at things outside, and sing/dance alone with your sister. She doesn't ever want you to sleep in the car, though, and always tries to wake you up.

You LOVE food.  You are picky at times about what you want, but you can put food away.  You can now use forks and spoons (although they can still be messy!)  You also love to dip.  If others have sauce, you insist on having it as well.  You are finally getting to where you will drink water/juice in between meals. You still want a cup of milk like a bottle, but we are working on switching it over to meals.

You are active. You do not sit still and watch shows.  You also love make believe toys.  You will play with Barbies and dolls, or cook in your kitchen.  Books and balls are your other favorites. You are starting to enjoy playing with your sister more. She enjoys it as well, except when you pull her hair!

Your Granny nicknamed you "smiley" and it is so fitting.  You almost always have a smile.  Tiredness, hunger and teething are the 3 reasons you get grouchy. Speaking of teeth, you have all of your teeth except 3 of your 2 year molars.

A few of your favorite things:
Singing "Happy"
Eating
Brushing your teeth
Your daddy
Chasing Ashlynn
Paw Patrol
The wind blowing
Clapping for and encouraging others
Instruments
Playing with q-tips (You will sneak into our room any chance you can and stack qtips lol!)

Sweet girl, you are a blessing.  You are edging closer to toddler and farther from baby each day.  We truly enjoy you and all that you have brought to our family.  May the Lord use your sensitive heart to bring Himself glory, and may that little heart know Him as Savior.

We love you, Mommy and Daddy

Meet Amy!

I am proud to introduce you to my friend, Schmamy. Her legal name is Amy Lauren Marks, but you can call her Schmames. We all do.

Amy is a 26 year old, living in Dallas, TX.

She loves Jesus and has a heart for ministry. Whether that’s painting a classroom for inner city schools, being a counselor at Sky Ranch, or leading at Impact retreat, Schmamy has a servant’s heart. She dedicates her Sundays to volunteering at her local church either playing drums for the kid’s ministry or running the projection equipment for the service.

She is a natural born leader. She is the first to take the initiative and get things done. If no one has stepped up, Amy will step in and get the ball rolling. She is independent, a go-getter, and if she doesn’t know how to do something, she will in five minutes after a YouTube video. She is also fiercely loyal and refreshingly honest. This girl does not play games, but tells it like it is.

(On the right)
She is a proud Texas A&M alum and she loves her Aggies to a ridiculous degree. But then again, all Aggies love their school to a ridiculous degree, so she’s probably your average Aggie. After 5 years at A&M (completing both her undergrad and master’s degree) she left with a great appreciation for sports, fun, and tomfoolery.

(On the Left)
She has a fantastic sense of humor as is evident by the act that she allows her friends to call her “Schmamy.” She is funny and witty, with just the right touch of sarcasm. She also speaks Friends fluently, which, as we all know, is a necessity for life. She is always smiling and always laughing. This is one of my favorite things about Shames: her constant state of contagious laughter.

If you know of a Texas guy who you think would be a match for Amy, email me at allison.sangenito@gmail.com, or leave a comment on the blog!

Little Bowlers

We have been wanting to take Ashlynn bowling for a while, and finally got the chance to this week!

Mark was up first to show her how things were done:

Here she goes...ready for her first bowl!

She wanted to carry the ball and push it down the ramp all by herself. She loved counting how many pins she had left to hit!

Mark and I took turns helping her bowl.

Little sister sat and snacked on popcorn most of the time, but she did in on the action a few times!

In the end...Mama won! Ashlynn did pretty great for her first time, too!

Next up, was time to play a few games!

There was one "roller coaster/train ride" simulation. We thought she may be scared of it, but she LOVED it!

Bailey even thought it was fun!

Oh, July!

July was awesome. The weather was cooler, and we were in a great summer rhythm. I was a little worried that this summer would be hard, since Bailey is still small, but she proved me wrong. We have had a blast, and are so sad that the hot weather has interrupted some of our fun. Here is a peak at a few memories from July...

A nap at Grandma & Grandpa's while sister swam.

Nightly routine: Cuddle with daddy and watch Paw Patrol, and then bedtime!

We had a fun day sliding on the porch...

And we celebrated our friend Elliot's birthday in style!

Our sweet pup had a few rough/itchy weeks...

A was SO proud of her church dress on this Sunday...

And I think sister was too!

We even got to have lunch with a few of our favorite Dallasites!
