Cornbread & Tomahawks

I thought I would give you a peek at our weekend with some pictures! (With a few descriptions of course!)

Friday--Planting flowers & herbs for the patio!

Saturday- Woke up and it was sunny. Headed out to our first destination--and it was flooding. Literally. Finally the rain stopped and we made it here:
The 12th Annual Corn Bread Festival.

The Crowds. (I think they are looking for the cornbread...)
Fun for the whole family.

After the festival, we headed out to the Tomahawk Throwing Competition. They throw knives/tomahawks and other sharp objects at large logs.
The hubby, learning about how to make a fire, and throw sharp things.
Does this sound safe to anyone?

The hubby starting a fire. In the grass. At least it wasn't his idea!

It was great to spend the weekend together just being goofy! Now hopefully we can just keep those flowers alive....!

Mmm Mmm Good!

UPDATE: I got this from a site with tons of great healthy recipes! It is www.sparkrecipes.com

Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup salsa
1 package taco seasoning
1 can reduced fat cheddar soup
1/2 cup reduced fat sour cream

Add chicken to slow cooker.
Sprinkle taco seasoning over chicken.
Pour salsa and soup over chicken.
Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. (I cooked on high for 3 hours)
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
Serve with rice.

Number of Servings: 6

Makes a ton, easy, and delicious! The hubby couldn't stop eating it! And best of all-it is a pretty healthy meal as long as you buy everything low fat. I mixed in some black beans and brown rice, shredded the chicken, and served in low carb tortillas! Enjoy!

Packed full

That is exactly what this post is. Packed full of updating. I haven't even posted about Easter yet! Sadly, this post is also pictureless, because my camera has had a rough turn of things.

So, lets start with Easter and work our way forwards!

We had a great Easter weekend! It was busy busy busy! Bow the knee was AMAZING! SO many lives were touched by it. In between the singing, acting, childcare, and videography, my mom's side of the family all came in town! The little brother spent a few days at our house--and rumor has it that him and Mark even went and did karaoke one night! (Man...where is the camera when you need it!!) It was great watching my cousins kids enjoy Easter, and also celebrate the real reason of the day with my kiddos at church and my family.

That day I got a great big surprise...but before I share that with you, meet my car, sharer of many surprises-(granted...this is NOT a picture of my car, becuase lets face it....my car looks a little more....weathered)
So, on with the story. Easter afternoon, I go hop in my car. And to my sandaled, pedicured, feet's dismay, water covers my feet. Not clean water. But dirty, brown water. Over the course of the next few days, my car has to be wet vac'd, the water returns, the smell grows, and now-here I am. With a stinky, falling apart car. I am just so very grateful that it still has four wheels that roll and a seat that I can sit in. And you can bet that I will drive that girl (Yes-girl...Jenny-the Jetta-of course!) until those four wheels roll off and that seat crumbles away.

Let's see, we have covered Easter, and the great car surprise. That just leaves the weekend of party's.

This past weekend was one party-ful weekend. Friday night was date night. Which, since I love my husband, and I love dates, that is totally a party in my book! We ate at a new restaurant and then bowled! Saturday, we had a surprise bday party for my Bampa. He is turning the big 7-5 this week, so everyone came to celebrate! Minus his slight suspcions (aired to his golfing buds), it went off w/o a hitch! Sunday was a bridal shower for my cousin-and it was beautiful! And it of course counts as a party, b/c my cousin's daughter kept saying "Its a church party! Its a church party!"

I believe that covers my whirlwind of a past two weeks. I applaud you if you have made it this far. This was really mostly for the mom's/dad's and documentations sake-but I hope you've enjoyed!

Puppies!

My dad's 2 dogs had the cutest lab pups in the world! He still has 4 of them left, so I told him I would post their pics on here in case any of you are looking for a sweet puppy! (And so that you could just see them in all of their adorableness!)

Here are the details if you are interested (or know someone who may be):
1 yellow male
2 yellow females
1 chocolate male

Yellow puppies-$300, Chocolate-$400

Both of the parents are registered labs with papers.

Inspired

For the past few months, I have spent my Tuesday nights with this--
After watching contestants lose weight, week after week, you would think I would have gotten inspired much sooner. Possibly when one lost 100 lbs, or when another lost the most weight, in the history of the show.

But no...I still sat on the couch, ate my dinner, and thought how nice for them.

Tonight was different. Tonight I was actually inspired. Watching the contestants, and their joy at being healthy. I have never been the most disciplined at exercising, or eating 100% healthy for that matter...but I am going to give it a try. For my health, for my energy, for my attitude, and to develop some discipline.

{and hopefully posting this for all to see will make me even more determined to stick with it...}

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

Wow....

....has it really been a week since I have updated?!

It has been a nonstop, crazy week for sure! Spent the weekend with friends at the lake....and this week has been dedicated to this:

Our church is having a Easter Musical this weekend, and I can't wait to see what big things God has planned! This weekend has been covered in so much prayer, and the focus is truly on getting the message of the cross out. The teamwork, hardwork, and positive attitudes that are evident are so uplifting. I feel blessed to be apart of a team that has such vision and passion for Him.

Thankful Thursday!

I always have so much to be thankful for, as the Lord is constantly blessing me (in big and small ways...and in good and bad times.) But today, I wanted to take a second and just share some things that I am very thankful for today!

*My amazing, hardworking husband found a JOB!! We have spent so much time in prayer that the Lord would provide the right job in HIS time--and the job that he got couldn't have been more perfect! :)

*I am also thankful for my husband through these past two months. His attitude has been so amazing, and got us through a stressful time.

*That I we get to see all of our best friends this weekend!

*I had been having some health tests run. I still have to keep going to some different doctors, but I am so thankful that we have doctors and tests to figure things out!

*I am also thankful for the staff that I work with. I truly feel that God has brought us all together, and I couldn't do all I do without them!

What are you thankful for today?
