This past Thanksgiving, we decided to get away for a little family time! We chose Denver and the nearby snowy mountains!
These pictures will not be in order, but oh well!
We flew out early and the girls did great! Ash rode with Mom and B rode with dad.
They were exhausted when we got there. We drove around for a while after breakfast so they could nap.
Ash got a cold, and also got super car sick. Sweet girl did NOT feel good (for most of the trip). It snowed pretty heavily on this day, and we drove up into the mountains to check it out.
We rested on Day 1, and then hit up the Denver Zoo on Day 2. It was beautiful outside and we had a great time.
After the zoo, we went to Golden and had some yummy pizza!
That night, we went to ride a Santa Lights Train. The concept was great, but it was SO SO cold, and Ashlynn felt really rotten.
After the train, we grabbed some dinner. Ashlynn slept through the entire thing (even the ice cream we ordered her in place of a meal!)
The next day, we drove up to Boulder to meet our friends at a brewery there.
Ash was starting to feel a little better, and we all enjoyed a low key day.
The next morning, we loaded up the car, grabbed brunch and got ready to head from Denver into the mountains.
On our way up, we stopped at Dinosaur Ridge. Our dino loving girls were in heaven seeing real dino footprints and fossils!
We also went to Red Rocks. This was one of Ashlynn's highlights of the trip!
We got to our next destination- Frisco, Colorado- and grabbed dinner then headed to bed. The next morning we woke up to SNOW!!!!
We bundled up and headed outside to play in the snow, and then had a lazy morning.
That afternoon, we had a sleigh ride scheduled!
The girls were excited to pet the horses.
We bundled up and rode around in our sleigh. Then we got to enjoy hot chocolate and a music show before we rode back to the base.
The next morning we grabbed some breakfast (it was not our most successful meal out...) and then headed to Breckinridge for the day.
Once we got there, we realized we wished we had worn snow clothes, so we headed back to our house and bundled up! We got a sled and took turns sledding down a hill. The girls had a blast (and so did we!)
On Thanksgiving morning, we were SO excited to get tickets to go tubing. It was probably the biggest flop of our trip though haha! The girls HATED it, and only went down 1x each.
We had reservations for Thanksgiving lunch back in Breckinridge. We then enjoyed walking around town for a bit.
This picture has a story....but I will let it be shared in person to anyone interested :)
The next day, we packed up and headed back to Denver. Before we flew out, we checked out the Denver Science museum. It was really impressive.
We were all pretty tired, and ready to be home, but it was good to get away too!
